Episode 33

September 14th, 2008

Oh no. It’s all going pear-shaped again.

The Leeds/Leicester match actually yielded 5 goals (3-2 to Leeds). After that I lost ÂŁ1 as Real Madrid lost badly and unexpectedly to Monaco in the Champions League. Another pound was lost because Newcastle drew 1-1 with PSV Eindhoven (and I needed 1 goal at most).

I felt that I needed a big win to put me back in the money so placed 50p on Adam Scott to win the Masters Golf Championship following his superb victory in the Players Championship. He failed to make the cut. I had two other bets on the Masters – one on Ernie Els to win and he came second, and one on eventual winner Phil Mickelson which helped to steady the ship.

Further weekend footy bets were a mixed bag winning on Man Utd. Norwich and Leeds and losing on Chelsea whose minds are perhaps on the Champions League than the Premiership.

And so on to this evening and it’s ÂŁ2 on Man Utd at 1/4 to beat struggling Leicester at Old Trafford. With Chelsea losing, United can catch them to pinch second place in the Premiership this season which they will, I feel, really go for.
