Episode 27

August 18th, 2008

Ok, ok – yes I know Best Mate is a horse. And a damn good ‘un at that! Made me a few bob after all. Trouble is I stupidly backed a couple of nags in the 2 o’clock race while I was waiting for the Gold Cup to start and they both lost. Then later that evening I had a bet “in running” that Aberdeen would overcome the 1-0 half-time score in their match against Livingstone at odds of 7/1. As soon as the second half started Aberdeen had a man sent off and it was all downhill from there.

However, it’s nice to know there are some things you can rely on in life like Arsenal and Celtic winning football matches. Trouble is the odds were such that those two victories yielded only around 25 pence!

Last night though proved to be more fruitful – I took the view that the Leeds Man City match would throw up 2 or 3 goals – and throw them up it did, yielding a much-needed 45p profit. This evening I have returned to the strategy betting ÂŁ1 that Rangers will overcome lowly Dunfermline in the Scottish Premier League encounter at 1/4 – hopefully then I will be 25p richer come tomorrow morning!
