Let the game commence – Episode 1

February 16th, 2008

“It’s a mug’s game”. Or is it? I mean, does it have to be? Or can it actually be a way to make money at a far higher rate of interest than you would get at a bank? If you are sensible and level-headed can you beat the bookies and make some easy dough?

Ok, this is the plan. From a very small initial stake fund of just ÂŁ10, I intend to find out how much profit we can make (if any) by backing only “sure bets”. By “sure bets” I mean (almost) guaranteed winners. The odds are not great on “sure bets” but if you stake ÂŁ5 and win just ÂŁ1 and keep your stake money then in reality that is a good return is it not? So it’s ÂŁ10 to play with and once that’s gone, it’s gone. I am not into Paul Merson style bets of tens of thousands of pounds (besides I don’t have that kind of money). Yes, this is a controlled experiment with no room for hot-headed emotion.

Let the game commence.
