Back in May I covered the subject of casino poker, and how it’s one of the few casino games that can actually be beaten over the long-run. Of course, it is also one of the most difficult games to master because of the sheer amount of strategy that you need to learn to compete with other players. And if you think casino poker is tough, you should start playing online texas holdem.

Online holdem is hard because so many players are well versed in strategy. Plus there are no physicals tells in internet poker so the game often becomes a matter of learning lots of math and recognizing betting patterns from other players.

Learning how to spot betting patterns is especially key to being a successful online poker player. For instance, if a person rarely plays any hands, then suddenly makes a huge raise, odds are that they just made a huge hand. Likewise, if someone raises and bets a lot, then merely checks or calls, it’s likely that they don’t have a good hand.

As far as the math goes, all players should have a basic understanding of how to calculate their pot odds (ratio of the current pot to how much one must spend to call). To illustrate how this works, let’s say that you are faced with a $10 call and the pot is $100; here your pot odds would be 10:1 (contributing 9% of the pot). So in order for this call to be profitable, you should have at least a 10% chance or better of making your hand by the river.

And this is just the basics since you have to know a lot of other math-related poker strategy to show a long-term profit in texas holdem. As with anything, the more time you put into online poker, the more likely you are to haul in big profits. Unfortunately, this means spending hours reading strategy articles, poker books, and watching strategy videos.

Luckily, there are micro stakes for players who don’t have enough time to learn all kinds of poker strategy. In fact, most rooms offer stakes so low that you’ll only be playing for pennies in each hand. Those looking to avoid the heavy competition in online texas holdem also play Omaha and 7 Card Stud games as well.

Moving away from the competition aspect, one really nice thing about online poker is that the bonuses are easily obtained. As soon as you’ve signed up at a poker room, you’ll immediately start accumulating frequent player points and other bonuses (depending on what you’ve signed up for). This differs greatly from land-based casinos where you have to talk to the casino staff and sign up for a program before becoming eligible for bonuses.

In any case, you stand to make more money by learning strategy for online poker as well as taking advantage of bonuses whenever you can. And if you’re just out to have some fun, you can always stick to the micro stakes.

Belated Happy New Year to you all! This year we could all become millionaiires! Here’s hoping! As promised, today I bring you an article about casino gambling. Enjoy!

Gambling in Las Vegas

Las Vegas. The one place that comes to mind when we envision a city that never sleeps. Of course vacationers and residents alike spend most of their time gambling at the infamous casinos. After all, Las Vegas is known for its energetic entertainment and overly addicting games. With hundreds of different places to choose from, it is no wonder that it is a safe haven for all gamblers.

When anyone visits Las Vegas, they automatically think of the best hotels which host these casinos. From free drinks to around the clock service, gamblers can get addicted to such hospitality. Many vacationers love this treatment because no matter who you are or what you do for a living, casinos welcome you with open arms. As long as you have a wallet and money to spend, you will be allowed to stay for days at a time. After all, casinos desperately want your money, and will do anything just to prevent you from leaving.

For any gambler, the best casinos are located on Fremont Street. With popular casinos like the Horseshoe and the Golden Nugget, anyone can easily spend as much money as they’d like. Many popular games in such venues include poker, video poker, and blackjack. These games are the ones that require skill and luckily, casinos cannot cheat you out of your money. Although payouts may be low, you will always be able to win, if you are a good and experienced player. However, it is important that you set a limit for yourself. It can be quite easy to lose yourself in a sea of drinks and endless amounts of games. With ATM machines in every corner, it is no surprise that gamblers end up cleaning out their entire accounts. It can be an overwhelming experience.

While poker and blackjack are games that can be won in Las Vegas casinos, other casino games aren’t so easy. Vacationers and residents alike need to realize that slot machines, craps, keno, and any other game of chance are very difficult to win. Generally, gamblers leave these games depressed, as they have lost too much money, and have nothing to show for it. Therefore, it is important to pay attention to how much money you are spending. While luck games are fun to play and addicting, it is crucial that you only spend a certain amount of time on them. If you are winning, then that is another story.

Fortunately, Las Vegas provides games for every type of player. Although the only requirement is that you are 21 and have money to spend, gamblers always are treated like royalty. Many of these people love the fact that you get free drinks if you are playing something other than 25 cent slot machines. This alone can make college students and young adults flock to such venues, just to spend their money.

The most deadly aspect of Las Vegas is that gambling occurs twenty four hours a day. While some casinos in other areas are only open for a certain amount of time, Las Vegas rarely sleeps. The busyness and extreme demand for your money can often be tremendously overwhelming. Therefore, if you keep a budget and set realistic goals, chances are you will be able to walk away with some sort of prize.

Until next time!

Ok. Are you ready. The knowledge I am about to impart could make you a fortune.

Casino Poker 1.

Whenever you can choose between skill-based casino games and luck based ones, you should be fully aware of the following things: all luck based casino games (like slots, roulette and keno) feature a built-in house edge that you won’t ever stand a chance to beat in the long-run. On the other hand however, these same games do not require you to possess any special skills, other than some simple and fairly straightforward basic strategy. On the whole, the situation is a trade-off between ease and accessibility on one side, and effectiveness on the other.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, skill based games like poker, baccarat and backgammon require countless hours of learning to master. Hitting the tables equipped only with basic strategy is about as futile as trying to tie a length of rope around a pile of sand. You’re going to have to do some serious research, studying, observing, not to mention trial and error. All of this hard work is supposed to pay its dividends when you eventually get around to winning. The good thing in this case is however, that in skilled based games, the casino won’t have any sort of an edge on you.

Poker, baccarat and blackjack are all about different human players going up against each-other with the house only being present on the level of the rake.

In conclusion, skill based games take a lot of effort on the part of the player to beat, yet they provide the best opportunity for winning, once a person masters them.

As I’ve said before, poker is one such skill based game. It is actually the most popular of the three named above. Not all casinos have it though, because of the costs of maintaining a large poker room and because of the relatively low income these poker rooms produce (in comparison with a same size room filled with slot machines) live poker is a privilege of the truly serious gambling establishments.

What exactly does it take to beat casino poker? Quite a few things… actually a lot more than I could ever cover in a single article or two for that matter, but here are a few basic principles:

There are three types of poker that you’ll find in casinos (actually there are quite a few more than that, but these three are the most popular of all) Texas Holdem, Omaha Hi-Lo and 7-Card Stud. Texas Holdem is by far the most popular of the three. Given the fact that Omaha and Stud are all about huge edges, rookies do not really stand a fighting chance against serious players in either of these two games. Skill is such a huge factor in both of them that they’re quite impossible for fish to beat. This is probably the reason why they lag so far behind Texas Holdem in popularity.

A community-card poker variant (just like Omaha) Texas Holdem doesn’t qualify as the world’s most popular poker genre for nothing. It features a much bigger short-term variance then Omaha, and thus luck is a far bigger factor in it, than in any other poker game. In layman terms, that pretty much means that rookies will have a chance to beat good Texas Holdem players in the short-term.

Beating this game in the long-term though, requires heck of a lot of knowledge and understanding of how it really works.
The Texas Holdem explosion in progress today in every online poker room, is something that turned this game into a much tougher to beat one than it has ever been before. The huge influx of rookies meant that the game got a whole new dimension to it, one that often ends up frustrating even the most skilled of players. Even though Holdem is recognized as a predominantly post-flop betting game, preflop action is getting to be an increasing factor. If you join an online poker room and sit down to a low-to-middle limit table, you’ll see what I’m talking about. Even though reducing the game to a preflop bingo-session might provide schooling rookies an edge over sharks in the short-run, it is by no means a reasonable way of generating money from playing this game.

I have slowed up on the old wagers of late but am still partaking. Am back up to ÂŁ12.50 due to some inspired footy betting! I must try to keep you all more informed of my progress this year.

Celebrity Big Brother is tempting my bet buds lately, and it is also proving to be big news due to the alleged racism taking place inside the house. Not sure it is racism myself – more a case of bitching but there we are. I have just had this sudden inspiration that Cleo Rocas will win as she is remaining aloof form all of the ugliness. ÂŁ1.50 says I am right at 4/1

However, I won some dough on good old Daddy Fantastic aka Pete Bennet who duly romped home on Big Brother (as expected – however I backed him early on at 7/2). I also had another bet on Welsh Wonder Glyn to come second so BB was good to me this year!

So the excitement of the World Cup Challenge has now subsided and we are back to the usual battle between me and Blue Square. One thing the World Cup Challenge has taught me is that it is always better to place small bets rather than a large one, no matter how sure you are. Remember, there are no dead certs, and bet accordingly.

One interesting bet I have just placed is for Little Britain star David Walliams to win the BBC Sports Personality of The Year award for his recent Cross Channel Charity swim. I have bet ÂŁ2 at 6/1 and think that is one wacky idea that may actually happen! I can’t see any other contenders bearing in mind our rceent failures in Germany and Wimbledon (unless Monty wins the Open of course!)

Speaking of The Open, prior to the start I also bet ÂŁ1 on Tiger Woods at 11/2 to win this year following a return to form after the understandable slump following the death of his father.

The only other bet I have outstanding is ÂŁ2 on Pete to win Big Brother placed when his odds were 7/2! He is now at 1/4 – I can’t see anyone else winning it.
